In a very good condition a rare to find US WW1 Military Medical Department Steel Ambulance Box. These boxes were used by a Field Medic or Fireman have contained medical supplies and taken into the field on a horsed or mechanized ambulance or an early Fireman Fire Department Ambulance Box used on a civilian ambulance.
Above the medical box are the words "Med Dept USA". 1903 and later patent dates stamped on box. ASMWIA Union seal stamped along with Medical Services cadueces. (Amalgamated Sheet Metal Workers International Assoc.)
The box Retains most of its original field paint and clearly shows the Medical Service cadueces.
