In a very nice used condition a stunning German Luftwaffe 1st pattern Dagger (Borddolch).
The borddolch comes in neu-silber and is complete with a OLC marked hanger and chain.
The dagger has traces of wear and age and comes from the estate of Feldwebel Horst Petzschler member of the 10./JG 51. (Geschwader Mölders)
The blade comes in a very stunning mint condition and is nicely maker marked by Alcoso indicating production by Alexander Coppel & Sohne from Solingen.
One of the most successful pilots of JG 51 during this period was Feldwebel Horst Petzschler, who downed 22 Soviet aircraft in the last months of the war.
When the unit on May 4, 1945, was to leave Eastern Prussia in order to - like most of the Luftwaffe - transfer to Schleswig-Holstein, Petzschler instead flew to neutral Sweden. His arrival in Southern Sweden was quite spectacular, as Petzschler undertook a successful dead stick landing, due to running out of gas, approaching the airport Bulltofta. When the war was over, the Swedish Authorities handed over Petzschler to the Soviet Union where he was kept as POW for four years.
After they released Horst he emigrated to the USA and became a employe of the Boeing Aircraft Factory in the US.
The dagger came from a friend of Horst together with a map of papers and pictures with signatures of Horst.
A very stunning named dagger from a real combat pilot of the last days of the Reich.
