General der Fallschirmtruppe Bruno Bräuer earned the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on May 24, 1940 as Oberst und Kommandeur of the Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 1.
Bruno Bräuer served as a commander on Crete and commanded the 9th Paratroop Division.
After the war, he was convicted of war crimes and executed on the anniversary of the German invasion of Crete.
