Charles was a Staff Sergeant of the 336th Engineer C Battalion (5th Engineer Special Brigade) who landed on Omaha Beach on the first wave on Exit-1 Easy Red Sector Omaha Beach!
Charles got of the beach alive and earned the Bronze Star medal for Heroism by hands of the Commander of the 12th Army.
Charles earned next to the Bronze Star Medal also the Silver Star Medal and the Purple Heart in Lorraine Sector of France during a Engineer Reconnaissance mission.
