These knives were addopted by Colonel Evans F. Carlson specially for the 2nd Raider Battalion.
He addopted the Collins No.18 knife with leather sheath and ordered 1000 of them.
These knives were delivered to the battalion at Camp Catlin in late 1942.
The serial numbers were applied by tge battalion armorer Lawrence Betts and issued to the guys.
These knifes were carried by them on Guadelcanal and Bougainville.
Only a few of these made it back to the USA due to use or trade for booze and other items.
Some Carlson Raiders did manage to keep the knives including George.
George has the marked number 677 on the blade of the 1000 ordered.
This is by far a very stunning Carlson Raider grouping that is very hard to find included the Carlson knife and Guam combat mapcard!
We price the grouping accourding it's condition and rareness!
