Major im Generalstab Peter Frantz earned the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on June 4, 1942 as Oberleutnant und Chef of the 16. Kompanie/ Infanterie-Regiment “Grossdeutschland” and the oakleaves on April 14, 1943 as Hauptmann und Kommandeur of the Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung “Grossdeutschland”.
