British (Aus) WW2 Airborne (Drop) Leg-Bag 1944

In a stunning mint condition and extreme rare and desirable British (Australian) WW2 Paratrooper Airborne (Drop) Leg Bag.
These leg bags were issued to the airborne forces of the British and US troops before the Normandy Invasion and was also used during Market Garden.
Developed in 1943, the airborne leg bag was designed to carry a paratrooper's personal weapon and individual equipment, however loads largely depended on the commander's discretion. Weighing in as much as 50kg, the bag was designed to be strapped to the soldier's right leg, by means of two sets of canvas straps secured by metal quick-release friction buckles (one strap placed at the lower knee and one at the upper ankle).
The base of the bag was heavily padded and there was a foot space to accommodate the boot for a closer fit. With the facility to release the bag before landing by the quick-release straps, the soldier could jettison the bag but maintain connected to it by a length of rope.
This example is in a never used condition and is nicely Australian made by the company of M.H.& Co (Michaelis, Hallenstein & Company PTY Ltd.) from Melbourne and is dated 1944!
The bag shows no traces of damage or use and comes with all original ww2 made parts included the ropes, bottom padding and quick release metal parts (canvas parachute harnas attachment is repro as always).
A very stunning leg bag that is highly desirable under airborne collectors!
