In a very stunning condition a US WW2 M1 Fixed Bale Front Seam combat helmet.
The helmet is maker marked by Schlueter (S marked on the inside of the shell) and has productionnumber 132. (produced early 1943)
The helmet shell is complete with the original chinstraps and complete in it's original paint.
on the inside of the shell is a WAR REJECT stamp visible.
These Schlueter helmets were delivered to the Ordnance Department, only to be discovered with latent defects. Either in transit or storage, the helmets’ brims developed cracks.
The Ordnance Department officials then marked the cracked helmets with an ink stamp, reading “WAR REJECT”. While not insignificant, this only affected up to 4% of the helmets that were delivered, making this helmet a relatively uncommon piece.
This example features the same brim crack and subsequently applied “WAR REJECT” stamping.
The shell comes with a stunning westinghouse high pressure liner green-painted steel A-washers and with the original green buckle leather chinstrap attached.
A very nice and stunning helmet set!!
