Oberfeldwebel Fritz Aechtner earned the German Cross in Gold on January 12, 1943 as Oberfeldwebel in the 2. Staffel/ Aufklärungsgruppe 21 and the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on December 20, 1944 as Oberfeldwebel und Flugzeugführer / Beobachter in the 1. Staffel/ Nahaufklärungsgruppe 5.
